about

We the freshwater crustaceans of this crawdad hole, in order to form a more perfect republic, establish justice, and ensure aquatic tranquility for us and our submerged brethren. We provide for the common defense against nets and avian predators, and promote the general welfare of our bog. To ordain and establish this republic of crawdad we understand that this nation, under Water, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that the government of the crawdads, by the bayou, for all shellfish, shall not perish from this watering hole.

Track Name: WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE
We're all gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.
Make right with the ones you've wronged before it's too late.
There might be no Maker, might be no pearly gate.
We're all gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.

Some say life is a trial, just the dark before the dawn.
I say leave only love, only LOVE behind you,
because this train keeps rolling on.

We're all gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.
Make right with the ones you love before it's too late.
You might be a martyr, Lord knows we make mistakes.
We're all gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.

When my days are numbered, moonlit nights now washed out black,
I will have only left bright markers for those who travel down the track.

We're all gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.
Make right with the ones you've wronged before it's too late.
There might be no Maker, might be no pearly gate.
We're all gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.

You might be a martyr, Lord knows we make mistakes.
We're ALL gonna die someday so you'd better lay them tracks straight.
Track Name: ICEBERG MEADOWS
Fourth of July has come, it’s custom that we go.
Make our way up 108, a place we call our home.

Stanislaus River’s seen a heavy year of snow.
I’ll pick and choose my battles where I cast my fishing pole.

Every year we make our way to the end of the road.
The world seems to stop spinning.

My father smiles,
he says, “Son, when I die..

Take me up to Iceberg Meadows,
under the sun lay my remains.
I will seep into Disaster Creek,
for years my ash will chase that setting sun,
but my soul is here to stay."

Well, Boulder Creek is runnin’ wild, the banks have overflowed.
No swimmin’ in our hole this year, spend my day skippin’ stones.

The pickup’s gone to Dardanelle, grab propane for the stove.
The campfire burns tradition four generations old.

I carved on that bridge, one day, my name and right below,
my father’s name from yesteryear, etched as a child.

He says, “Son, when I die..

Take me up to Iceberg Meadows,
under the sun lay my remains.
I will seep into Disaster Creek,
for years my ash will chase that setting sun,
but my soul is here to stay."

Fourth of July has come, it’s custom that we go,
make our way up 108, a place we call our home.
Track Name: WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND
Well I ain’t no idol America,
see I don’t mind my Ps and Qs all that well.
I've got no desire for fame or a fortune,
but I love myself and keep my coins in my till.

Well isn’t that the secret friends?
Haven’t we lost focus on us?
At the end of the road we all die alone,
will you be with someone you trust..?

Maybe you should smile a little bit.
Maybe you should laugh till tears pour out.
Maybe you should smile a little when no one is around.

They say if a tree falls down in the forest
it will never really make a sound
if there’s nobody there that can hear it fall.
Well that got me listening.

See there’s a drum beating in my chest and it’s a gift we pass along. Don’t let it slip through your fingertips, there’s a rhythm in us all.

Maybe you should smile a little bit.
Maybe you should laugh till tears pour out.
Maybe you should smile a little when no one is around.

Maybe you should sing a little bit.
Maybe you should belt your insides out.
Maybe you should sing a little when no one is around.
Track Name: NOTHING TO SHOW
I'm trying to jump into something and go with the flow,
but there ain't no water in that watering hole.
Waiting for rain it ain't good for the soul.
We're all looking for someplace to go.

So I jumped on the road, started kicking up dust.
Never asked for directions to I don't know what.
People tossing advice around I cannot trust,
so I'm heading to somewhere or bust.

There's no one to blame when you're lost in yourself,
no horizon to claim, no map that can help.

The road it feels worthy but the traveler feels doubt.
All the words that I've spoken dry up in my mouth.
I've been to the East and I've been to the South,
but neither provide a way out.

There's no one to blame when you're lost in yourself,
no horizon to claim, no map that can help.

I saw lots of sights I'd never seen before,
skyscrapers and canyons there's got to be more.
Cross enough land find yourself at the shore.
There's no patch when your soul's feeling torn.

Theres no one to blame when you're lost in yourself,
no horizon to claim, no map that can help.
And, there's nothing to see when you've got your eyes closed,
there's no one to be if you've got nothing to show.
Track Name: CAN'T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN
No you can’t keep a good man down.
You can hold him underwater, you may hope that he will drown.
You can bury him with circumstance and cloud his head with doubt, but you can’t keep a good man down.

“I’m sorry son,” said the lawyer to the boy.
“Your folks weren’t good at paying debts, or saving coins.
It seems that all your parents left you was uncertainty and void.
You’ve got a pulse, you’ve got a choice.”

No you can’t keep a good man down.
You can flood his deck with water, sink his ship, hope that he drowns.
You can bury him with circumstance and cloud his head with doubt, but you can’t keep a good man down.

The house is gone, repossessed on a Saturday.
And with it left all the childhood memories.
He drove his mother back and forth for years from work and to AA, irony took her away.

No you can’t keep a good man down.
You can fill his lungs with water, you may be certain he will drown.
You can bury him with circumstance and cloud his head with doubt, but you can’t keep a good man down.

He got the call at 6:07 June the 8th
and from the tone he’d known what’d happened right away.
“There’s been an accident and I’m afraid neither of them are safe,
the alcohol must share the blame.”

No you can’t keep a good man down.
You can deprive the air he breathes,
hold him under, watch him drown.
You can bury him with circumstance and cloud his head with doubt, but you can’t keep a good man down.
Track Name: DUST OFF YOUR BOOTS
Pick up your head, won’t do no good hangin’ low.
It’s time to swing that pendulum.
All the “bottom of the barrel” means that it’s time to fill it up.
Revelations don’t appear in murky waters.

Don’t drag your feet right now.

There’s always just another day right around the bend,
the best day of your life might be tomorrow.
If you don’t dust off your boots,
can’t fit the left foot on your right, no matter how hard you try.

Well fortunes change, might not be on a dime.
Ya’ll know a prism is no good if you never feed it light.
So fall back on the friendships that you’ve fortified with time.
Reflections will appear if you look harder.

Don’t drag your feet right now.

There’s always just another day right around the bend,
the best day of your life might be tomorrow.
If you don’t dust off your boots,
can’t fit the left foot on your right, no matter how hard you try.

But you won’t know exactly what you’re made of if you don’t take the first step. Ain’t no ball of crystal gonna help ya see things right.

There’s always just another day right around the bend,
the best day of your life might be tomorrow.
If you don’t dust off your boots,
can’t fit the left foot on your right, no matter how hard you try.
Track Name: LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT
Well it's taken me some time to become a decent man,
it's a castle I've been building all my life.
Each little stone, it stands for something
and I’ve placed them with these hands,
one by one, until the pieces fit just right.

Well these walls, they grew taller and they grew stronger around her.
Her tapestries became embedded in the stone.
With her came everything that had been missing,
from each flower to the throne.
Now the castle resembled the makings of a kingdom.

Well I've grown bolder, true, richer in the soil.
You make me a better person and I must know.

Would you let me be your everything, be young lovers grown old?
I'd put you in a house with a front porch, a place for a family to grow.
Could you be the first thing that I see in the morning,
be the sun shining through the window?
Well, the long and the short of it was no.

Empty vases lie in boxes next to neatly folded gowns.
All the colors that once brought beauty now are stains.
I look to the stones for answers and I'm inspecting each and all,
to scrutinize what's missing, or out of place.
There are times that I dwell, feel like I'm just a pile of rocks.
At times I refuse to forget the way you taste.
Now I look for a dawn when I can lower my drawbridge down,
invite back the world, rid of your embrace.

We both grew bolder, more true, and richer in the soil.
You've made me a better person. I had to know.

Would you let me be your everything, be young lovers grown old?
I'd put you in a house with a front porch, a place for a family to grow.
Could you be the first thing that I see in the morning,
be the sun shining through the window.
Well, the long and the short of it was no.
Track Name: GET ENOUGH
Down by the river, witch doctor drew some blood.
He said, “Child what ails you?” I said, “I can never get enough.”

So, I waded through the current, dirty water in my cup,
drank it down with a shiver, cause I can never get enough.

Wash it down, welcome my predicament. Take the bait set the hook.
And now I've found that I am bound to my ambivalence,
just a ripple in the brook.

Down by the river, I'd finally woken up.
I still taste the past but can't remember what I’d swallowed in that cup.

So, I rose up to the surface, began to sober up,
opened my eyes awoke my senses, cause I could never get enough.

Wash it down, welcome my predicament. Take the bait set the hook.
And now I've found that I am bound to my ambivalence,
just a ripple in the brook.

Because I scuffed my boots in the parking lot,
gotta get money while the gettin’s hot.
Well my girl stood up she walked out my door.
I can never get enough I will always need more.
I got a .38 caliber at my side tryin’ to make waves in the coming tide.
Got them lawmen kickin’ on down my door,
I can never get enough I will always need more.

Wash it down, welcome my predicament. Take the bait set the hook.
And now I've found that I am bound to my ambivalence,
just a ripple in the brook.
Track Name: ALL GONE
Smoke had died across the land.
Morning shook my weary head.
I don’t know where I’m goin’, hardly where I’ve been.
Ain’t no lord above who’d grant pardon on my sins.

When you're low your body keeps,
but the mind cradles disease.
A level head backed up against the wall,
a grade as steep as a mountain’s tall.

And your love’s gone,
and your love for yourself is gone.
And your love is all gone,
and your love for yourself is all gone.

When you’re dry from out and in,
there’s no grace, there are no friends.
With no hope, just a demon in my skin,
if time is kind this war will see my end.

Met a man, 1860,
had a banjo on his knee.
He rung my head, told me how to get along,
shook my bones when he sang for me this song.

He sang, “Your love’s gone,
yeah, your love for yourself is gone.”
Said, “Your love is all gone.”
Said, “Your love for yourself is all gone.”

And your love’s gone,
and your love for yourself is gone.
And your love is all gone,
yeah, your love for yourself is all gone.
Track Name: STONES RIVER
Old Clive was a rooftop rider,
big dreams, but a bigger tow,
cut loose for the great wide open,
still runnin’ from his soul.

Well, he knew there’d be no dreams in the meadowlands.

Stones River was flushed with crimson,
washed out to Union’s hold.
Bragg ran, but he would not follow,
Clive had another goal.

Well, the fight had all been lost in this Confederate.
To find peace, one last time, he’d chase the sun.

You can ride down the face of an avalanche.
You may walk about this world all alone.
The evil you invite may someday seep out from your pores,
but a man is not assured to make it home.

To make it home…

Thirteen long years it’s been since
hope filled his eyes with gold.
The only sovereignty he could render
was on the trail through Mountain Meadows.

Well, no man decides on how and where to die.
This last voyage validated his resign.

You can ride down the face of an avalanche.
You may walk about this world all alone.
The evil you invite may someday seep out from your pores,
but a man is not assured to make it home.

To make it home…
